Hammont Rectangle Acrylic Display Boxes
These clear acrylic display boxes are one of those simple tools that end up being useful in far more ways than expected, especially in a fish room setup.
With a compact vertical design, these boxes are great for organizing small supplies like nets, pipettes, syringes, airline tubing, test kits, feeding tools, and fishroom odds and ends that tend to clutter shelves. Their clear walls make it easy to see exactly what is inside at a glance, which saves time during daily maintenance and feeding routines.
They also work extremely well as a photo box. The clear acrylic provides clean lines and minimal visual distractions, making them ideal for photographing bettas, guppies, shrimp, plants, or small aquascaping pieces. With proper lighting, they create crisp images that look professional without needing a full photo setup.
Another popular use is temporary housing or display for bettas. These boxes are perfectly sized for short term holding, showcasing fish for photos, videos, or in person viewing. They are especially useful during selection, pairing decisions, or while preparing listings. They are not intended for long term housing, but they shine as a clean and attractive display option.
Their lightweight design makes them easy to move around the fish room, stack on shelves, or reposition as your setup changes. Whether you are organizing, photographing, or temporarily displaying fish, these boxes adapt easily to your workflow.
Important Note
The main downside to these boxes is that acrylic scratches more easily than glass. Care should be taken when cleaning. Using soft microfiber cloths and avoiding abrasive pads will help keep them looking clear and presentable over time.
Overall, these acrylic display boxes are a versatile and affordable addition to any fish room, breeding setup, or hobby space. Once you have a few on hand, you will quickly find yourself using them for far more than just storage.
LIQUID GOLD
BRINE SHRIMP 90% HATCH RATE
These 90% hatch rate brine shrimp eggs from BrineShrimp Direct are something I use consistently in my fish room and trust every single day. Newly hatched baby brine shrimp are one of the most important foods I offer to fry and juveniles, especially during those early critical growth stages.
Baby brine shrimp are packed with easily digestible protein, essential fatty acids, and natural enzymes that promote fast healthy development, strong immune systems, and vibrant coloration. I rely on them heavily when raising guppies, bettas, killifish, and other small tropical fish.
What many people overlook is how valuable brine shrimp are for adult fish as well. I regularly feed enriched brine shrimp to my adult breeders and display fish as a conditioning food. They stimulate natural feeding behavior, improve body condition, and are an excellent way to deliver nutrition without fouling the water.
The consistent hatch rate, clean eggs, and reliable performance make these brine shrimp eggs a staple in my fish room. If you are serious about raising healthy fry and maintaining strong adult fish, high quality brine shrimp eggs like these are absolutely essential.
Cconvenient, EASY, NUTRITIOUS
AQUATIC FOODS FREEZE DRIED BBS
Freeze dried brine shrimp are another staple food I rely on heavily in my fish room. They are incredibly convenient, easy to store, and readily accepted by just about every small to medium sized fish I keep. Even larger cichlids go crazy for them, making this a very versatile food option.
I especially appreciate freeze dried brine shrimp when I am away from home and need someone else to feed the fish. They are simple to portion, clean to handle, and much easier for family or friends to use compared to live or frozen foods. There is no mess, no thawing, and no guesswork involved.
Nutritionally, freeze dried brine shrimp are an excellent source of protein and natural nutrients that help maintain good body condition, energy, and overall health. I use them as a regular part of my feeding rotation alongside live foods to keep my fish engaged and feeding aggressively.
Compared to frozen or live brine shrimp, these are far easier to store long term and take up very little space. The quality from Aquatic Foods Inc has been consistent and reliable, which is why this is the brand I personally use and recommend. For anyone looking for a dependable, fish approved food that fits into a busy schedule, freeze dried brine shrimp are an easy win.
R/O WATER WITHOUT BREAKING THE BANK
AQUATIC LIFE RO BUDDIE
This compact RO filtration system has been an absolute game changer in my fishroom. As someone who works with freshwater aquariums daily, having access to clean, reliable, low TDS water has made a noticeable difference in fish health, stability, and overall success.
I personally use this system for my bettas, killifish, guppies, shrimp, and other freshwater aquarium fish that thrive in controlled water conditions. Starting with purified RO water allows me to properly remineralize and fine tune parameters for breeding tanks, grow out tanks, and display aquariums. It gives me full control instead of guessing with tap water quality.
One of the biggest advantages is its small size. This RO system is perfect for fish rooms where space matters. It fits easily into tight areas, apartments, utility rooms, or shelving setups and can be hooked up only when needed. That versatility makes it ideal for hobbyists, breeders, and anyone running multiple freshwater tanks without wanting a large permanent unit.
Despite its compact footprint, it consistently produces clean reverse osmosis water I trust for water changes, top offs, and sensitive freshwater species. Since using it, I have seen improved coloration, reduced stress, and more stable aquarium conditions across my tanks.
If you keep freshwater aquariums and are looking for a reliable RO water filtration system that is affordable, space saving, and effective, this is a piece of equipment I genuinely recommend. It has earned a permanent place in my fishroom and continues to support the quality and care standards I follow at LOMWILD.
ALL IN ONE SUBTRATE #1 RECCOMENDED
FLOURITE DARK
Even though I have changed how I set up my all natural planted aquariums over time, there is still one all in one substrate that I always recommend for anyone who does not want to go through multiple setup steps, and that is Flourite Dark.
Flourite Dark is a premium natural clay substrate designed specifically for planted aquariums. It is porous, long lasting, and does not break down or need to be replaced over time. The porous structure provides an excellent environment for beneficial bacteria while also allowing plant roots to anchor easily and grow strong.
What really sets Flourite Dark apart for me is its consistency and reliability. It does not alter water chemistry, it supports healthy root development, and it works well with both low tech and high light planted tanks. The dark color also enhances plant contrast and makes fish colors stand out beautifully, which is especially important in display tanks.
Out of all commercial aquarium substrates, this is the one I trust the most. It is versatile, proven, and beginner friendly while still delivering results that even experienced aquarists appreciate. For anyone looking for a simple, effective, and long term planted tank substrate, Flourite Dark remains my top recommendation.
PLANTS LOVE THIS! NO ROOT TABS NEEDED!
BRIGHTWELL FLORINBASE LATERITE
I highly recommend using Brightwell Aquatics FlorinBase Laterite Powder in conjunction with a nice layer of Seachem Flourite Dark substrate placed directly over it. This combination creates an excellent foundation for planted aquariums by pairing an iron rich base with a stable, long lasting top substrate that plants thrive in.
FlorinBase should only be applied as a thin base layer. A little truly goes a long way. You do not need much at all for it to be effective. Once capped with Flourite Dark, it stays contained and continues delivering iron and trace elements right to plant roots where they need it most.
When used this way, you get the best of both worlds. Strong root development, long term nutrient availability, and a clean, natural looking substrate that enhances plant growth without complicating maintenance or water chemistry. This is one of my favorite substrate combinations for anyone looking to build a reliable, natural planted aquarium that performs beautifully over time.
BRIGHT. SIMPLE. AFFORDABLE.
BARRINA T8 LED SHOP LIGHT
The Barrina T8 LED shop lights are one of my go to budget lighting solutions for aquariums. These are 5000K lights and they work extremely well for low to medium light planted tanks without the high cost of traditional aquarium fixtures.
I regularly use a single strip centered over a 20 gallon aquarium, just like you see during my TikTok lives, and they easily grow a wide variety of low to medium light plants. If more light is needed, these fixtures can be doubled up or even tripled to increase light output and watts per gallon without breaking the bank.
Some people are discouraged by the clear 270 degree beam angle, but I found a very simple fix. Using a hammer, I gently tap along the center of the light with the cover still on, slowly working down the length until the light bar is flat. There is no need to remove or alter any internal components. Once flattened, the light mounts easily and directs light straight down into the aquarium.
Another major benefit is how convenient these lights are. They connect to each other, allowing multiple fixtures to run off a single outlet. This makes them perfect for fish rooms, racks, or multiple tank setups.
While these lights are not specifically designed for aquariums and are not the most visually appealing option, their performance, reliability, and price more than make up for it. For hobbyists on a budget who care more about function than marketing, the Barrina T8 LED shop lights are an incredibly effective and practical choice.
SPONGE FILTRATION PREFFERED
AQUANEAT BIO SPONGE
These small sponge filters have become a staple in my freshwater aquariums and fishroom at LOMWILD. Simple, reliable, and incredibly effective, they are one of those pieces of aquarium equipment that just work without complication. I use them across a wide range of setups including betta tanks, killifish breeding tanks, guppy grow outs, shrimp aquariums, and quarantine tanks.
What I love most about these sponge filters is how gentle yet efficient they are. They provide excellent mechanical filtration by trapping debris while also offering a huge surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow. This makes them ideal for delicate fish, fry, and invertebrates that need clean water without strong currents. Their compact size allows them to fit easily into smaller aquariums while still performing like a much larger filter.
Another major benefit is how easy they are to maintain. A quick squeeze in removed aquarium water is usually all it takes to keep them running efficiently. They are also extremely versatile and can be paired with almost any air pump, making them perfect for fish rooms running multiple freshwater aquariums at once.
Here is a simple tip I use regularly. When setting up a new aquarium, squeezing out an established sponge filter into the new tank can help jump start the biological filtration. This introduces beneficial bacteria immediately, helping stabilize the nitrogen cycle faster and creating a healthier environment for fish from day one.
For anyone keeping freshwater aquariums, breeding fish, or running a multi tank fishroom, these sponge filters are affordable, dependable, and incredibly effective.

EASTMAN CLEAR TUBING
This Eastman clear vinyl tubing has been incredibly useful in my fishroom at LOMWILD. It is noticeably more rigid and durable than any aquarium airline tubing I have used before, making it far more reliable for long term setups. I use it for air lines, water transfers, and custom fishroom plumbing where consistency matters.
You get an incredible amount of tubing for the price compared to buying short lengths at a pet store, which adds up quickly in a multi tank fishroom. It also outperforms the popular black tubing, which often slips off valves and check valves. This tubing stays secure, holds its shape, and lasts for years.
AIR WITHOUT THE SOUND
AQQA AQUARIUM AIR PUMP 10W
These powerful yet extremely quiet air pumps are a core part of my fishroom at LOMWILD. I use them daily to deliver strong, reliable airflow without the constant noise that many air pumps produce. When you are running multiple freshwater aquariums and water storage systems in one space, quiet operation and consistency really matter, and these pumps excel at both.
I currently use one of these pumps to run aeration to two 55 gallon Brute containers holding freshly pumped and filtered well water. This keeps the water highly oxygenated, stable, and ready for use in water changes and aquarium top offs. Proper aeration at this stage helps improve overall water quality before it ever reaches my fish tanks.
Another unit powers air to two 75 gallon aquariums and two 55 gallon aquariums at the same time with ease. The airflow is strong, even, and dependable, making it ideal for sponge filters, air stones, and biological filtration systems.
These are true powerhouse air pumps that are built to last. They run quietly day and night, stay cool, and handle continuous use without issue. I genuinely love these pumps and trust them throughout my fishroom.
VIVA! A PUMP THAT HAS POWER!
VIVOSUN 1050 GPH 100W
This VIVOSUN 1050 GPH 100W submersible water pump is hands down my go to pump in the fishroom at LOMWILD. I love this pump so much that it is now the only brand I use. When I need to move water fast, this pump gets the job done without hesitation.
I use it for draining aquariums quickly, transferring water between tanks, and pumping water up to 6 or even 8 feet high with strong, consistent flow. It has the power to handle large water changes efficiently, which saves time and effort in a busy fishroom environment.
The build quality is excellent, it runs smoothly, and it has proven to be extremely reliable with repeated use. If you need a powerful submersible water pump for freshwater aquariums, water storage containers, or fishroom maintenance, this is one I confidently recommend.
WATERING SPIKES? YEAH RIGHT!
VIVOSUN WATERING SPIKES
These terracotta watering spikes are one of my favorite multi purpose items in the fishroom at LOMWILD. While designed for plants, they double perfectly as natural hiding places for aquarium fish and make excellent spawning caves for plecos and other cave breeding species. I use them regularly in freshwater aquariums where fish benefit from added structure and security.
The porous terracotta material provides an ideal surface for beneficial bacteria growth, supporting biological filtration while maintaining a natural, earthy look in the aquarium. They are fish safe, durable, and blend beautifully into both planted and non planted tanks.
Be sure to choose the VIVOSUN brand, as their watering spikes are noticeably larger than most competitor varieties, making them far more useful for aquarium applications.
FULL TANK BARRIER
MESH NETTING
This white mesh fabric is one of my favorite simple tools for setting up spawning tanks, especially for egg scatterers like zebra danios. The slight stretch makes it very easy to work with and allows it to sit securely in the tank without needing complicated supports or permanent modifications.
I use this mesh as a spawning barrier by placing it just above the bottom of the tank. The openings are perfect for letting eggs fall through while keeping the adult fish from reaching them. This dramatically increases egg survival and removes the stress of constantly watching or separating fish mid spawn.
What really makes this mesh stand out is how easy it is to remove. Once spawning is complete, I can lift the mesh and remove all of the parent fish at once without chasing them around the tank. This keeps stress to a minimum and makes the entire breeding process much smoother and more efficient.
It is lightweight, reusable, and stores easily when not in use. For anyone breeding zebra danios or other similar species, this mesh fabric is an incredibly practical and effective solution that saves time and protects eggs without overcomplicating the setup.
HEAVY DUTY MULTIPLE AIR SUPPLY
BNAFES 6 WAY INLINE MANIFOLD
These heavy duty metal aquarium air manifolds are a must have in my fishroom at LOMWILD. I use them across multiple applications to split airflow from powerful air pumps with precise control to each line. They are solid, well built, and hold up extremely well under constant use without leaking or loosening over time.
Each valve allows fine adjustment, making them perfect for running sponge filters, air stones, water storage containers, and breeding or grow out tanks all from a single high output air pump. If you run multiple freshwater aquariums, these manifolds help keep your air system clean, organized, and efficient.
FRY SAVER. TANK DIVIDER. AQUARIUM RAKE.
PLASTIC MESH CANVAS
Mesh plastic canvas sheets are one of those tools I always keep on hand because they have endless uses in the fish room. They are simple, affordable, and incredibly effective for a wide range of setups.
I regularly use these to create fry enclosures that keep baby fish safe while still allowing excellent water flow. They are also perfect for worm cultures, making harvesting clean and easy without digging through substrate or media. Another everyday use for me is as a rake for duckweed and floating plants. They scoop and gather floaters far better than nets.
These sheets also work extremely well as elevated spawning dividers. I place them slightly off the bottom so eggs can fall through while keeping adult fish away from freshly scattered eggs. This has been especially useful for egg scatterers and has improved hatch rates significantly.
With the larger hole diameter set, the mesh allows great circulation while still providing separation and structure. They can also be cut and used as tank dividers, making them even more versatile.
There are many creative ways to use these sheets, and I seem to find new applications for them all the time. They are one of those fish room essentials that are always good to have around, no matter what species or setups you are working with.
Heasy Duty Sharp Sheers
MR. PEN SCISSORS
These Mr. Pen metal scissors are hands down my favorite scissors for both the fish room and the shipping table. I like them so much that I keep three pairs on hand at all times, one by the tanks, one at the shipping station, and one as a backup that always seems to get used anyway.
They are incredibly sharp, smooth, and comfortable to use. My oldest pair is at least three years old and they are still just as sharp as the day I bought them. That alone says a lot about the quality and durability.
I use these constantly for cutting airline tubing, mesh, plastic canvas, shipping bags, rubber bands, labels, and just about anything else that needs a clean precise cut. At the shipping table they make bag prep fast and effortless, which really matters when packing fish efficiently and safely.
They feel solid in the hand, cut clean every time, and hold their edge far better than most scissors I have tried. Out of all the scissors I have purchased over the years, these have been the best by far. They are simple, reliable, and one of those tools that quietly becomes essential in the fish room.
PRECISE MEASUREMENTS
KARTER BEAKER SET 6 PIECE
These glass beakers from Karter Scientific are absolutely perfect for use in the fish room. They make measuring liquids cleaner, faster, and far more precise than using cups or improvised containers.
I use these constantly for measuring exact amounts of water, especially when preparing shipping bags. Being able to measure accurately helps keep conditions consistent and reduces stress on the fish during transport. They are also great for mixing treatments, conditioners, medications, and liquid foods where precision really matters.
The range of sizes makes this set extremely useful. From small 10 ml measurements all the way up to 1000 ml, there is always a beaker that fits the task. The borosilicate glass feels solid and durable, and the clear markings are easy to read even in a busy fish room environment.
Beyond shipping and dosing, these beakers get used for all kinds of day to day tasks. Mixing solutions, transferring water, testing setups, and organizing small amounts of liquid all become easier with the right tools.
This is one of those products that quickly becomes indispensable once you have it. Simple, reliable, and incredibly useful, these beakers are a great addition to any fish room and something I reach for almost every day.
STRONG. DURABLE. VERSATILE.
EQUIPTZ SPRING CLAMPS
These spring clamps from EQUIPTZ are something I keep within reach at all times in my fish room. They are strong, durable, and surprisingly versatile, making them useful for far more than just one task.
I use them constantly to clamp hoses, airline tubing, drip lines, and various pieces of equipment whenever I need a quick temporary hold. They grip firmly without slipping and hold their tension even with repeated daily use. When I am working on tanks, water changes, or breeding setups, having these clamps ready saves time and frustration.
One of my favorite habits is clipping them around shelves, racks, and tank stands so they are always an arm’s length away. That small convenience adds up fast when managing multiple tanks and projects at once.
The assorted sizes pack is my favorite option. Having different clamp sizes available means there is always the right one for the job, whether I am securing a small airline or holding a larger hose in place. For anyone running a fish room or even a single aquarium, these spring clamps are one of those simple tools that quickly become essential.
HANYCONY Surge Protector Power Strip
This surge protector power strip has become one of my most used pieces of equipment in the fish room. With eight standard outlets and four USB charging ports, it makes powering heaters, sponge filters, air pumps, lights, and timers simple and organized without overcrowding a single outlet.
What really sets this unit apart is the added versatility. The built in USB C and USB A ports are perfect for charging phones, tablets, cameras, battery powered air pumps, and other accessories right at the fish room bench. I no longer need separate charging bricks, which keeps cords to a minimum and the workspace cleaner.
The flat plug design is another big plus. It sits flush against the wall, allowing racks and shelves to sit closer without bending cords or stressing the outlet. The braided extension cord feels durable and holds up well in a busy fish room environment where cords are constantly moved or adjusted.
Overall, this power strip makes managing multiple devices safer, cleaner, and far more efficient. It is a small upgrade that makes a noticeable difference in day to day fish room operations.
AUTOMATE AND FORGET
KASA SMART PLUGS
I absolutely love these Kasa Smart Plug Mini 15A outlets and honestly could not imagine my fish room running the way it does without them. Being able to set schedules for lights, air pumps, and other equipment has completely changed how I manage my setup. Everything turns on and off automatically without me having to think about it.
What really makes these stand out is the ability to control them from anywhere using the Kasa app. Whether I am home or away, I can instantly turn equipment on or off with my phone, giving me peace of mind and full control at all times. In today’s fish room, automation is essential, and these plugs make it simple, reliable, and efficient.
They are compact, dependable, and handle fish room equipment with ease, but they are just as useful throughout the rest of the home. Any space that benefits from automation, timers, or remote control can take advantage of these smart plugs. From lamps and fans to aquarium gear, they are one of those tools that once you start using them, you will wonder how you ever managed without them.
