Banana Worms
Size: Medium size between Walter and micro worms, easy for slightly larger fry.
Best For: small tetras, guppy fry, platies, endlers, small barbs.
Culturing Instructions
Follow the same steps as for Walter worms:
-
Prepare your culture container and shiny-wet oatmeal or other carbohydrate medium.
-
Add a pinch of active dry yeast on the medium before adding the starter.
-
Add starter banana worms and spread across the medium.
-
Tape a fine cloth over a small vent in the lid for air and pest control.
-
Keep at room temperature. Banana worms usually grow out well and begin producing in about a week.
-
Harvest by swiping the container edges and transferring to tank water for feeding.
Tips:
-
Banana worms are sometimes called intermediate nematodes between walter and micro worms.
-
Like all nematodes on solid media, they thrive on bacteria and yeast breaking down the food medium.
