White worms are one of the most nutritious and irresistible live foods you can offer aquarium fish. A White Worm Starter Culture from LOMWILD gives you everything you need to begin producing a steady supply of these protein rich worms right at home.
White worms are a favorite food for many freshwater fish including bettas, angelfish, killifish, cichlids, guppies, and larger fry. Their soft bodies and high fat content make them excellent for conditioning breeding fish, boosting growth, and encouraging natural feeding behavior.
At LOMWILD, cultures are maintained carefully so they arrive active and ready to grow. Once established, a single culture can provide continuous harvests with minimal effort. Many aquarists keep several cultures going at once to ensure a reliable supply of live food year round.
White worms are especially useful for hobbyists who raise fish because they are easy to culture indoors, produce quickly, and require very little equipment.
Basic White Worm Culture Care Sheet
Container
Use a shallow plastic container with a lid. Add several small air holes for ventilation.
Substrate
Use moist organic potting soil, coconut coir, or a soil mix. The substrate should be damp but not waterlogged.
Temperature
White worms prefer cooler temperatures. Ideal range is 55°F to 70°F. Warmer temperatures will slow or reduce production.
Feeding
Feed small amounts of food such as:
• Bread soaked in milk
• Oatmeal
• Plain yogurt
• Fish flakes
• Soft vegetables
Place food on the surface and cover with a small piece of plastic or glass to help the worms gather.
Moisture
Keep the substrate slightly moist. If it begins drying out, lightly mist with dechlorinated water.
Harvesting
Worms will gather under the food. Simply scrape them from the surface or rinse them off the feeding area and offer directly to your fish.
Maintenance Tips
• Feed small amounts frequently rather than large amounts at once
• Remove uneaten food if it begins to mold
• Start a second culture after a few weeks as a backup
With simple care, a white worm culture can provide a continuous supply of nutritious live food for your aquarium fish.
